Details

Laura joined the firm as a trainee in 2016 and qualified into the commercial litigation team in September 2018. Laura advises businesses, public sector bodies and individuals on how to best resolve their commercial disputes. Laura has also spent time on secondment in the in-house legal teams of leading public companies in the banking and life sciences sectors. 

Laura advises across a wide range of sectors on matters including breach of contract claims, professional negligence, public procurement disputes, defamation and reputation protection, company disputes, judicial reviews and public inquiries, with particular expertise in contentious intellectual property matters and disputes in the higher education, healthcare and pensions sectors. Laura is experienced in bringing and defending a variety of Court applications and claims as well as dealing with disputes by way of alternative dispute resolution such as mediation or expert determination. Laura also sits on the Manchester Law Society Civil Litigation Committee and is an Associate Member of the Association of Pensions Lawyers. Laura has been named as a “key lawyer” in the Legal 500 rankings for several years running and is listed as a “Rising Star” in the 2024 edition of the Legal 500 for Commercial Litigation: Manchester.

Laura graduated with a BA (Hons) in French and German from the University of Warwick, which included spending a year working in Germany. Laura subsequently completed the Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Sheffield and the Legal Practice Course (with distinction) at the University of Law, Manchester. Prior to joining Hill Dickinson, Laura gained experience as a Corporate and Finance Paralegal at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP.

    • Acting for a client in a complex claim in excess of £50m for breaches of statutory duties under the Companies Act 2006 and the Insolvency Act 1986
    • Resolving a number of proposed claims against former employees for defamatory comments made to customers at the pre-litigation stage
