Laura practices in marine-related, travel and and general employers’ liability and public liability personal injury claims. Laura acts for a variety of port, cruise, travel and ferry operators, offshore companies and their insurers.

Laura has experience in dealing with a wide range of high value personal injury and fatal accident claims, including:

Accidents abroad resulting in multi-jurisdictional issues
Employers’ liability/public liability claims
Mesothelioma claims
Gastro intestinal illness including norovirus, legionnaires claims

She has been involved in a number of high profile matters, including the Supreme Court case of BP Shipping Ltd & Anor -v-Braganza [UKSC 2013/0099].

Laura has also dealt with a number of highly-sensitive sexual assault claims and has experience of employer liability claims involving serious injury or death. Laura jointly heads up the smalls claim unit, supervising a team of paralegals and trainees in managing portal personal injury claims.

Laura completed her law degree at Nottingham University in 2007 graduating with an upper second-class honours. She graduated from her LPC in 2008 with a distinction and joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in September 2009.

Attendance at inquests, including a five day inquest into the death of a construction worker on behalf of an offshore operator
Onboard and on-site investigations into passenger and crew personal injuries and fatal accidents
Defending a variety of norovirus class actions on behalf of travel and cruise operators
Experience in defending sexual assault claims onboard passenger ships
Recently defended a personal injury class action involving 37 claimants on behalf of a ferry operator
Regularly present to insurers and travel and cruise operators on developments in the personal injury and travel sector
Defending both employers’ liability and public liability claims on behalf of a variety of UK port operators
Defending contractual claims for quality complaints and breaches of the Package Travel Regulations on behalf of tour and cruise operators.
