Michael is a partner in the employment, education and pensions team, specialising in work for healthcare and public sector organisations.

Details

Michael is an expert in all areas of employment law and has particular experience of complex employment issues concerning director disputes, medical staff and doctors in training. He undertakes a full range of employment law advice and representation, including advocacy in the Employment Tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal. 

Michael has provided advice and representation to foundation trusts, commissioning support units, clinical commissioning groups, strategic health authorities, primary care trusts and Health Education England.

Michael is a prominent member of the firm’s on-going training and continuing development activities for clients.

Michael has a masters degree in employment law and industrial relations.

    • Provided advice to NHS England in relation to the re-organisation of primary care services and the application of TUPE to the termination of contacts for services
    • Assisted Health Education England in the drafting of the contracts of employment and educational agreements for all foundation dentists in England
    • Provided advice and training to NHS Trusts on implementing legislation regarding shared parental leave and its impact on employment contracts and policies and procedures
    • Successfully represented a strategic health authority in a high value Employment Tribunal claim concerning allegations of unfair dismissal and whistleblowing
    • Provided advice to a strategic health authority in relation to its statutory functions and its ability to appoint non-executive directors under the relevant legislation
