Before joining Hill Dickinson, Richard was a partner at a large regional firm acting as a trusted adviser to high net worth individuals and business owners. He provides advice to assist clients in navigating the multi generational transfer of assets in a tax efficient manner, combining his expertise in succession planning with his extensive experience in estate and trust administration.

Richard works with clients to understand their succession planning aims and objectives and provides pragmatic advice to ensure this is achieved during lifetime and/or on death through the use of Wills, Trusts and lifetime gifts.

Richard has an in depth understanding of Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief, ensuring such Inheritance Tax reliefs can be successfully claimed as part of lifetime planning and Estate Administrations.

Richard also has a particular focus on advising owners of Crypto Assets, and is a leading figure in this area, bridging the gap between decentralised ownership of digital assets and the practical and legal requirements for the effective transfer of the same.

Richard completed a Degree in Ancient History at Newcastle University before converting to law through the completion of the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Certificate. Richard is also a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and a fully qualified TEP.
