Rosie Goncare

Rosie advises owners, charterers, insurers and protection and indemnity clubs in relation to various bills of lading and charterparty claims, claims for cargo shortage or cargo damage, marine insurance, international sale and purchase of goods, impact of various trade sanctions, and recovery of judgment debts from foreign debtors. Rosie has extensive experience of litigation in the High Court and of international arbitration, negotiating settlements, making and defending applications for security for costs.

Most recently, Rosie has also been advising clients with regard to COVID-19, Brexit’s and sanctions effects on businesses.

Rosie’s further specialisms include:

• specific marine technical knowledge and working alongside master mariners during the casualty investigations (the MAIB/MCA investigations) and assistance to Russian and/or Lithuanian speaking crew
• representation of both the shipyard(s) and the clients-buyers in relation to shipbuilding and superyacht construction disputes
• advising some of the largest UK port operators on the contractual and third party liability matters, port of refuge
• significant practical knowledge in relation to detention and arrest of vessels, recovery of debts; exercising lien over cargo

Rosie qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in May 2014. She is a qualified Lithuanian lawyer and gained her masters in law degree at Vilnius University, Lithuania. Further to her postgraduate studies at St. Petersburg State University, she has obtained LLM in international trade and commercial law from the University of Durham, UK. Rosie has also successfully completed her LPC at the College of Law in London.
