Thomas joined the firm in May 2021, having previously been a solicitor at Knights plc and prior to that an associate at Walker Morris LLP where he completed his training contract.

Thomas has experience of acting for investors, owners, developers, tenants, landlords, receivers and agents dealing with issues such as dilapidations, telecommunications, possession claims, forfeiture, lease renewals and terminations, boundary and title disputes, landlord and tenant, debt recovery, insolvency, leasehold management and service charge disputes.

Thomas also has significant experience in complex financial litigation instructed on behalf of blue chip institutions and high street lenders.

Thomas graduated from the Newcastle University before successfully completing the graduate diploma in law and legal practice course at the College of Law in York.

    • Successfully defending a building society from allegations of an “unfair relationship” under the Consumer Credit Act 1974
    • Successfully defending a farming client in a complex claim under the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986 which sought significant damages
    • Successfully defending a national housing developer in a £2.7m breach of contract claim asserted by a local authority
    • Achieving an order rectifying the title of a property in a defended claim brought by a blue chip lender client
    • Successfully defending a claim, heard at a one day trial, which sought damages and an injunction, following a landlord client forfeiting a lease
    • Successfully exercising the “pre-emption” process under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 by serving over 100 notices
    • Securing an order for possession and a money judgment on behalf of a prominent pub landlord, on the basis of arrears of rents and other sums
    • Settling a multi-track claim issued against a tenant client concerning its alleged breaches of its lease repairing covenants
    • Settling a complex multi-track possession claim brought by a prominent blue chip lender client at a one day mediation, which Thomas led
    • Achieving an order for possession against trespassers on behalf of a landlord of a significant industrial estate, in which Thomas acted as advocate
