Trudie typically acts on behalf of ship owners, charterers and P&I clubs and has represented clients in London High Court proceedings, London arbitrations and mediations. Trudie advises clients on a wide range of dry shipping disputes arising from charterparties, shipbuilding contracts and other commercial shipping agreements.

Trudie was seconded to an oil major for ten months as legal counsel supporting the shipping and trading areas and to a London club for six months where she handled a range of P&I and FD&D claims.

Trudie also advises clients on matters concerning UK, EU, UN, and US sanctions, her experience includes:

  • Advising ship owners, charterers and managers in relation to calls to sanctioned jurisdictions including Syria, Venezuela, Iran, Russia/Ukraine, Qatar and Libya
  • Advising on sanctions due diligence checks on entities, individuals, vessels and cargoes
  • US delisting applications and obtaining required licences 
  • Advising on commercial dealings with sanctioned jurisdictions and entities
  • Drafting and enhancing sanctions compliance manuals/policies and advising on in-house due diligence procedures 
  • Advising on contractual impact of sanctions and drafting sanctions provisions
