Vassilis Mavrakis

Prior to joining the firm, Vassilis had worked as a shipping litigator in a top-tier Greek law firm, before qualifying as a solicitor and moving to the shipping litigation team of an international law firm.

Vassilis specialises in a wide variety of contentious shipping matters, very often with a multi-jurisdictional aspect. In the past, he has handled charterparty and cargo disputes, vessel arrests on multiple jurisdictions, shipping finance litigation, MoA cases, and marine insurance matters (including disputes arising out of Mortgagees’ Interest Insurance policies). Vassilis has experience in arbitration (predominantly on LMAA terms), arbitration appeals, and High Court litigation.

Vassilis obtained an undergraduate degree in Law from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and an LL.M. in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton.
