Raj Pabla

Raj has a broad commercial litigation practice (national and international) including director/shareholder disputes, civil fraud, debt and asset recovery, disputes arising out of corporate and banking transactions and complex commercial contract claims. He also practices in several fields of professional liability with particular emphasis on high value claims against lawyers and financial institutions and advisors. Raj had advised on litigation/arbitration and regulatory matters across the globe including in India, USA. Nigeria and Malaysia. He is well regarded in providing strategic advice to clients in highly complex disputes with the intention of gaining the upper hand over opponents from the outset.

Raj acts for clients from a diverse range of sectors, including real estate, education, IT, sports and media, fashion, banking, travel, fintech and finance. He is also a trusted advisor to a number of family offices in London which require a range of legal services.

  • Expertise

    • Advising clients in relation to a significant joint venture dispute involving a renewable energy enterprise.
    • Led a team in a claim for over £40m involving 180 Claimants who alleged a mis-sale of a mortgage product by an international bank.
    • Advised directors with interests in a group of IT companies, defending claims of breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent misrepresentation and breach of contract.
    • Acting for over 100 clients in a professional negligence claim launched against a firm of solicitors alleged to have negligently handled a commercial litigation matter causing clients to suffer over £10m in losses.
    • Advised clients in a partnership dispute that culminated in a significant monetary judgment following trial in the High Court. 
    • Pursued claims and complaints of professional negligence/misconduct against lawyers, accountants, auditors, architects, property project managers, and IT professionals.
    • Successfully defended clients accused of setting up a competing business and arranging an alleged fraudulent liquidation of a company.
    • Acted for a group of clients in the successful recovery of funds following their investment in a Ponzi scheme.
    • Acted in a number of Unfair Prejudice claims by shareholders in which the Court granted orders for a share buy-out. 
    • Successfully applied for injunctive relief (including freezing orders) against opponents accused of misuse of confidential information and diverting lucrative business opportunities.  
    • Successfully defended a widow accused by a beneficiary of her late husband’s estate of misappropriating estate assets valued at US$20m.
    • Successfully opposed a Supreme Court appeal against an order entering Judgment in default in respect of fraud claim worth over US$30m.
