CRELA launches in the North West

The inaugural event of the North West branch of the Commercial Real Estate Legal Association (CRELA) will be taking place in Manchester on 23 February.
CRELA is a not for profit professional organisation for commercial real estate lawyers established in 2010 whose President is The Right Hon Lord Justice Lewison. The event is the first of its kind for the region and will promote best practice in the North West.
The event has been put together by Jon Pearson-Basudev and Emma Townley with assistance from the London CRELA Committee. The aim of the CRELA North West branch is to develop a forum for commercial property lawyers to come together and share skills and ideas amongst the property legal community.
The event on 23 February will feature a presentation from eminent Pump Court Tax Chambers barrister Michael Thomas concerning VAT and SDLT issues commonly faced by property professionals. This shall include sales of SPV companies, development transactions, a closer look at tax structures and common pitfalls and tax risk management.
Since 2010 membership has continued to grow and the organisation have been proactive in providing stimulating training events and activities for members which deal with specific and relevant commercial property issues. Further information about CRELA may be obtained on its website. The North West is continuing this growth and enthusiasm for collaboration amongst its many non-contentious property lawyers.
