Hill Dickinson announced as UK’s best employer for flexible working in Working Families Best Practice Awards 2020

Details

Leading commercial law firm Hill Dickinson has today been announced as the UK’s best employer for flexible working in the 2020 Working Families Best Practice Awards, beating off competition from the Civil Service, Pitney Bowes, the Royal Air Force and Zurich Insurance.

Work-life balance charity Working Families holds annual awards to celebrate employers whose stand-out cultures and working practices lead the way in flexible and employee-friendly workplaces. Now in their eleventh year, the charity’s Best Practice Awards showcase and celebrate employers who offer flexibility for all their people and go above and beyond in their support for parents and carers.

The award comes at a particularly challenging – and potentially game-changing - time for businesses of all sizes as they have had to quickly adapt to a new way of working in light of the coronavirus pandemic. For some, like Hill Dickinson, the firm’s already well-embedded and widely embraced policies for family-friendly, agile working have served them very well.

Carolyn Morgan, director of HR with Hill Dickinson, said: ‘We are thrilled to be the winner of this award. Our commitment to being an employer of choice and to actively encouraging our people to adopt a work-life balance that enables them to lead happy and fulfilling lives, has already benefited the firm in so many ways, not least in terms of productivity, recruitment and retention.

‘To have that commitment recognised by the Working Families’ judging panel against a field of such worthy contenders, makes us incredibly proud.’

Hill Dickinson chief executive Peter Jackson added: ‘Family-friendly working arrangements are available to everyone at every level at Hill Dickinson, and the current lockdown has seen these put into practice like never before. Our policies, our people and our tech were all aligned long before home-working and home-schooling became our everyday normal, so we’ve been able to service our clients without interruption. What’s really interesting is how quickly this way of working has been accelerated by circumstance. In that respect, we are delighted to be seen as leading the way.’
