Hill Dickinson advises NASDAQ-listed Meta Materials on US $20m acquisition

Details

Meta Materials Inc, a NASDAQ-listed US developer of high-performance functional materials and nanocomposites, has announced its strategic acquisition of UK industrial tech developer Plasma App Ltd (PAL) in a transaction valued at $20 million.

The 100% acquisition will allow Meta to improve its manufacturing processes by pairing the company’s existing nanopatterning technologies with PAL’s first-of-its-kind coating technology, PLASMAfusion™, a proprietary manufacturing platform technology that enables high-speed coating of any solid material on any type of substrate.

Shantanu Sinha, partner, and Danielle Higgins, associate, in commercial law firm Hill Dickinson’s London Corporate team acted as legal advisers to Meta on the deal.

Shantanu Sinha said: “We were delighted to work on a deal that brings together the manufacturing and technological expertise of these two very complementary companies. In recognising the huge potential to  transform its current manufacturing processes by embracing emerging technologies, Meta will be able to develop and deliver new solutions at unprecedented scale and cost. We are excited to see where the company is headed and wish both parties every success in this new venture.”
