Reliance on digital infrastructure is creating increasing cyber security risks for all organisations. Traditionally organisations have been reactive to the management of cybersecurity risk, adopting a stance of ‘that won’t happen to me’ and ignoring the risk or relying on cyber insurance.  However, the rise in successful cyber-attacks in recent years has driven regulators in the U.S, EU and APAC to propose and implement cybersecurity risk management regulation and regulatory enforcement regimes, that will challenge organisations to find a more effective, and cost-effective, means of managing this risk (‘Left of bang’).

In this webinar, we looked at the current cybersecurity and risk management landscape, including the increasing requirements of regulators, regulatory enforcement, and what businesses in all sectors can do to manage cybersecurity risk in line with regulatory compliance.

Key things discussed included:

  • Current and proposed cybersecurity regulations – an overview in the UK and beyond (EU NIS 2.0, EU DORA, EU Cyber Resilience Act and the Securities and Exchange Commission cyber risk management proposal)
  • The requirements for Board cybersecurity risk management governance, oversight and assurance
  • Developing a risk management framework at Board level and across the organisation – what you need to put in place
  • Dealing with cyber-attacks – Cyber incident response key tips and mitigations

The webinar was co-hosted with Andy Watkin-Child, founding partner of Parava Security Solutions, and members of Hill Dickinson’s Cyber team.
