Details

Javed specialises in travel, regulatory compliance, commercial and media law. Specific expertise in relation to contractual matters, booking terms and conditions, conditions of carriage, website compliance and consumer protection regulatory issues. Experienced in Competition law, the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Javed is viewed as an expert in the fields of travel having spent a significant proportion of his career in-house. He was involved in discussions with the EU Commission regarding the EU Package Travel Directive 2015 and sits on the EU sub-committee formed to review the working of the Package Travel and Linked Travel Regulation 2018 where he is representing Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) whose members comprise of all the major passenger ship owners and travel agents.

He has a close relationship with the Department of Transport on various industry issues in relation to passenger rights when traveling by sea or inland waterways and manages the voluntary complaints handling body for CLIA relating to complaints arising under the Passenger Rights Regulation. Javed has extensive experience attending casualties on board ships to investigate and liaise with the authorities.
