Hill Dickinson advises CPL Training Group shareholders in disposal deal

Details

Hill Dickinson’s corporate team has advised the shareholders of Birkenhead-based CPL Training Group on disposal of the Group to global food and drink data and research consultancy CGA Group.

CPL Training is the leading provider of personal licence training to the hospitality and consumer retail industry in UK. It trains more than 20,000 individuals across the UK hospitality and retail sectors. Clients include Stonegate Pub Company, Mitchells & Butlers, Greene King and retail leader Asda.

The deal comes just over a year after Hill Dickinson advised CPL Group on the disposal of its specialist e-learning arm of the business, CPL Online, which was purchased by CGA Group in March 2018.

Hill Dickinson corporate partner Matt Noon led the sale by the shareholders of CPL Training Group, assisted by associate Elizabeth Jones.

Commenting on the deal, Matt Noon said: ‘We were delighted to once again help the shareholders of CPL Training, our long-standing clients, on this exciting deal. This is an excellent opportunity for the business as it reunites CPL Training with CPL Online and offers its services to clients through a more focused and robust system. We wish the newly expanded group every success.’

Daniel Davies, founder of CPL Training Group, said: ‘It’s been more than 28 years since I started the business which developed into the CPL Training we see today. It has been fantastic to establish and grow such a successful brand and I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside some brilliant people along the way, many of which are still with the business today.’

Jon Collins, current executive chairman of CPL Online and former chief executive of CGA, will oversee the integration of CPL Training into the CGA Group.
