Hill Dickinson advises waste management firm Ecofficiency on acquisition by Reconomy Group

The Leeds office of commercial law firm Hill Dickinson has advised Doncaster-based Ecofficiency on the company’s acquisition by global circular economy specialist Reconomy Group.

Ecofficiency is a leading national provider of waste and materials management solutions, including recycling.

The acquisition by Reconomy Group of the company’s specialist soil sampling and remediation services – which reduces the bulk volume of waste by segregating hazardous materials and retaining recycled soils on site – adds further breadth and depth to Reconomy Group’s service offering and aligns with the Group’s mission to achieve a more circular economy.

Leading on the provision of legal advice to Ecofficiency were Hill Dickinson corporate partner Sandip Khroud and legal director Rebecca Bennett,  who worked alongside audit, tax and advisory consultants Mazars, led by partner Alex Baskeyfield and director Chris Dale.

Sandip Khroud said:
“Market forces are increasingly focused on environmental sustainably, which makes businesses that provide services in this sphere of operation a very attractive proposition. For the management team at Ecofficiency, the opportunity to be acquired by leading global circular economy specialist Reconomy Group represents a huge step forward for the business and one that brings multiple benefits to both parties.”

Simon Raven, managing director of Ecofficiency, said:
“We are delighted to be joining Reconomy Group, a market leader in the waste management and sustainability sector. Together, we are in a great position to continue innovating as we drive the circular economy forwards and help businesses become more sustainable.

“We are particularly indebted to Sandip and Becky at Hill Dickinson, their understanding of our  business and the provision of sound and timely legal & commercial advice every step of the way was an important element in guiding us towards a successful outcome. “

Hill Dickinson has recently confirmed plans to move its Leeds office from 9 Bond Court to 11 Wellington Place, set to be one of the most sustainable office buildings in Leeds. The move will also see the firm significantly expand its 40-strong Leeds operation as part of its long-term strategy to build a comprehensive business services offer within the city.
