Hill Dickinson advises Swedish investor Röko on acquisition of majority stake in Brownell

Details

Swedish investment company Röko has acquired a majority of the shares of Brownell Limited, a leading developer of moisture control and humidity protection products in the UK.

It is the eighteenth acquisition that Röko has made in less than three years since being established in June 2019 as a perpetual owner of European small- and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).

Law firm Hill Dickinson advised Röko on the deal, fielding a multidisciplinary team comprising: Shantanu Sinha (partner, Corporate), who led the transaction; Isabella Spencer-Higgins (associate, Corporate-Commercial); Will Steed (senior associate, Employment); Louise McMahon (senior associate Real Estate); Rob Eakins (associate, Commercial and IP); Stephen Barnfield (legal director, Regulatory); and Stephen Betts (tax consultant).

Commenting on the deal, Shantanu Sinha said: “We were delighted to support Röko on this acquisition.  It is good to see that European investors are continuing to look to the UK for investment opportunities and that in doing so British brands can more easily access EU markets despite Brexit. We were pleased to provide advice on all legal aspects of the transaction and wish both parties every success in achieving further growth.”

Brownell Limited is a leading developer of moisture control and humidity protection products, based in London, UK. Founded in 1952, it supplies a range of products include desiccators, humidity indicators, pressure relief valves to more than 30 countries and employs a workforce of 40 people.

Current Brownell CEO Neil Partridge will remain in post and as a minority shareholder in the business going forward.
