Matthew is a partner in the Marine and Trade team. He specialises in international commercial dispute resolution, with a focus on shipping and offshore disputes. Matthew is a member of the firm's Marine Emergency Response Team.

Details

Matthew routinely advises clients in respect of a variety of marine and offshore disputes. Before joining the firm, Matthew worked for other international law firms having worked primarily in their London and Singapore offices.

Matthew has extensively advised on both wet and dry shipping matters. His practice includes advising on salvage cases (LOF and commercial terms), groundings, wreck removals, collisions, fire on board vessel, container casualties, submarine cable disputes, dry issues arising out of casualties, charterparty based disputes involving various forms as well as offshore casualties/disputes involving jackups and other types of vessels. Matthew also advises on contract review and commercial matters within his areas of specialisation.

Matthew has experience of English Commercial and Admiralty Court proceedings, as well as international arbitration (LMAA, LOF, LCIA, SIAC, SCMA, UNCITRAL and ad hoc).

Matthew completed his law degree at the University of Southampton. Matthew has also been seconded to an IG P&I Club as well as an offshore insurance syndicate. Matthew was a recommended lawyer in The Legal 500 2021 rankings.
