Network schedules: are you ready for the new DES contract?

Network schedules: are you ready for the new DES contract?

As with previous years, the Network Contract Directed Enhanced Service (DES) specification requires PCNs to have in place bespoke network schedules signed by all members, which supplement the mandatory provisions set out in the national template network agreement.

The Network Contract DES specification for 2024/2025 highlights some potential changes needed to your existing network schedules, including:

  • any PCNs delivering vaccinations collaboratively must document their arrangement in Schedule 8 of their network agreement and insert a new clause requiring the members to comply with Schedule 8
  • defining the role and eligibility of the clinical director, who must be a practicing clinician from within the core network practices, able to undertake the responsibilities of the role and represent the needs of the PCN’s patients, and able to develop relationships and work closely with other clinical directors, clinical leaders of other primary care, health and social care providers, local commissioners and LMCs; and
  • reviewing the activities and funding schedules to take account of the modified service requirements and funding streams set out in the new specification.

It is advised to undertake a periodic general review of your schedules to ensure they still reflect your requirements.
