Annual employment law review

Please join us for a complimentary employment law seminar on Thursday 18 April 2024 at the Park Royal Hotel & Spa, Warrington.

Four of our employment partners will give you a clear and concise update of recent employment law developments, and provide you with practical guidance and advice on what they mean for your business and what you need to do to stay compliant.

Our annual employment law review will cover:

  • Annual leave and holiday pay – risks and uncertainties (Glenn Hayes): 1 January 2024 brought the biggest shake-up of annual leave and holiday pay law in decades, but many questions and uncertainties remain and it has never been more important for businesses to understand the risks that can arise from a failure to properly implement the changes. Glenn will highlight the changes, the questions that arise and provide practical guidance and support in this tricky area.
  • Business protection – confidentiality and post-termination restrictions (David Parry): The greatest asset of any business are its employees, but they also constitute one of its greatest threats: they run the business; conceive new products and services; develop business and pricing strategies; manage relationships with customers and suppliers; and have access to highly sensitive trade secrets and confidential information. That is why it has never been more crucial to protect your confidential information, and the stability of your business via robust post-termination restrictions. Dave will examine the key issues in this area.
  • Preventing sexual harassment – reasonable steps in practice (Caroline Prosser): From 26 October 2024, employers will have a positive duty to take ‘reasonable steps’ to prevent sexual harassment of their workers, and the worker’s compensation can be uplifted by up to 25% if the employer has failed to do so. Caroline’s session will consider the practical steps you can take to prevent harassment, and the importance of a business’s reaction to harassment complaints.
  • Redundancy – what does a fair redundancy process entail? (Luke Green): With the UK recently falling into a technical recession, many businesses will be reviewing their current staffing requirements and looking to ‘trim the fat’. To reduce the risks arising from the restructure and redundancy programmes, this Luke’s session will consider what a fair redundancy process entails and the impact recent legal developments will have in this area of law.

Who should attend?

This session is aimed at CEOs, Managing Directors, In-house Lawyers, HR professionals and those with responsibility for people management within their organisation. Expert knowledge of employment law is not required.

Please note:

  • Places are allocated strictly on a first come first served basis
  • Due to space restrictions at the venue, there is an initial limit of two delegates per organisation (additional delegates can be added to a waiting list)
  • This is an in-person event and it will not be recorded

We hope you can join us.
